It is a common misconception that Lean and Six Sigma are “either or”
process improvement solutions. Lean tools implemented through Kaizen are the
fastest, most effective way to initially streamline and improve manufacturing
and business processes. Often, Six Sigma is also required to address specific
variation and quality issues, as Lean waste elimination continues.
However, traditional Six Sigma is very methodical and projects typically take
six months or more, which can run counter to a speed-oriented Lean culture.
Sigma Kaizen is the LeanSigma tool, developed by TBM, which enables companies
to implement Lean and Six Sigma together – simultaneously and seamlessly
– in months less time than a traditional, standalone Six Sigma project.
